Welcome Nebraska science teachers!

On this site, you will find the beginnings of a place where we can share with other teachers the activities that work in our own classrooms.  The goal is for these activities to meet two criteria:

1. Science content and inquiry practices are integrated.
  • Content guidelines are set by the Nebraska State Accountability (NeSA) indicators, but can also come from Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), or college preparatory requirements in advanced and elective classes
  • Content goals are met by utilizing guided inquiry methods where students develop the ideas based on experience and analysis
  • Both content and inquiry standard requirements can be met simultaneously, as well as improving the science practice skills  of students.
2. Activities are shared among teachers.
  • Valuable collaboration is difficult in a state where many districts are rural and may have only one or two teachers making up the science department.
  • Teachers who create activities that work can share them with colleagues on the other side of the state.
  • Teachers who need to meet specific standards but want to utilize inquiry methods can find resources that have proven successful in other classrooms.

On this site there are also some excellent resources on guided inquiry methods and how they are best integrated into the classroom. So, please, take the time to look through the activities that have been shared and submit your own for others to use in their classrooms!
